Betting Record on Super Bowl 50 at Nevada Sportsbooks

Record number of betting was registered at Nevada Sportsbooks on Super Bowl 50 – according to the data released by Nevada Gaming Control.  In the ‘Silver State’ of the U.S., $132.54 million was bet on Super Bowl 50.

There are 194 licenced sportsbooks in Nevada, which generated $132.5 million this year. However, this new record beat the previous one set in 2014, when $119.4 million was bet on Super Bowl 48.

Based on the results published by Nevada Gaming Control, however, less than $50,000 separated the two teams, Denver Broncos win over the Carolina Panthers. $132.54 million was wagered on the first team, by which the past record – of $119 million set in 2014 –  was topped this year.

The president and CEO of the American Gambling Association, Geoff Freeman claimed that the number of illegal wagers is estimated about $4.1 billion.

Despite the strict regulations and efforts to cut down on the amount of illegal gambling in the U.S. states, Freeman added that football lovers wanted to be involved in their favorite sports and they would find how to do it somehow.

It can be concluded from these data – both, from the total number of the legally and illegally taken bets – betting is one of the esteemed national free time activity of Americans. Finally, Geoff Freeman strengthened that the American Gaming Association is determined to introduce a modern and logical approach to protect players from illegalities, and provide the integrity of sports.

Legislation in Nevada allows gambling; thus the remarkable revenue record of Nevada Sportsbooks is due to the fact that Nevada is the only state in the U.S. where single-game sports wagers are legal.

The Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act of 1992 allows three other U.S. states – besides Nevada –  Oregon, Montana, and Delaware to legally wager on sports.

All of the other states has to follow strict regulations in terms of gambling in the US.
