Zach Johnson recently handed back the Claret Jug that he won last year, and he’ll be looking to defend his title this year so he can reclaim it. “That thing has a lot of weight to it in the sense that is represents golf. It’s been in my home town, at the club I grew up at,” said Johnson, who is currently ranked world No. 18. “Certainly my entire team has had it, meaning my coaches at their clinics, their academies. They had it for two to four weeks. So I’ve got to be honest, I probably had the thing for three months.”
Despite winning it last year, Johnson is an outsider for the title this year 51.00 (50/1), per online sportsbook odds.
