So, without further ado … what are the Oscars betting odds this year?

Oscars Betting Odds: Best Picture

The Revenant seems to be in the lead, with Bet365 giving the film the highest odds (meaning the lowest payout, of course) of 8/13. The closest contender is not too far behind: the investigative journalism drama Spotlight is getting the odds of 15/8. The third runner-up is The Big Short, with the an all-star cast of Ryan Gosling, Christian Bale, Brad Pitt, Steve Carell, and others. The odds for that film are 9/2. Next in line is Mad Max: Fury Road, with the odds of 100/1 … so if you have some inside info that’ll tell us that it will win the Best Picture Oscar, please, let us know, and we’ll go all in on Mad Max.

Oscars Betting Odds: Best Actor

Leonardo Di Caprio is the current favorite of the online bookmakers around the world thanks to his performance in Iñárritu’s The Revenant. William Hill is giving him 1/50, placing him ahead of the other powerful candidates for the award such as Michael Fassbender (16/1) and The Matrian’s Matt Damon (66/1). Bryan Cranston’s work in Trumbo, on the other hand, seems to be not so popular, with the odds of 50/1 from the infamous online sportsbook William Hill.

Oscars Betting Odds: Best Actress

Brie Larson appears to be in the definitive lead here. Her performance in Room has made the odds of her winning the Oscar for Best Actress a staggering 1/20. So those who like to bet on Oscars online might give this one a pass, though, as we all know, in Hollywood, nothing is what it seems. Brie is followed by Saoirse Ronan for her role in Brooklyn at the odds of 10/1, with the third contender being Cate Blanchett, getting the odds of 28/1 for her work in the film Carol.

Oscars Betting Odds: Best Director

It should probably come as no surprise that Alejandro González Iñárritu is topping the betting odds charts after seemingly universal praise for his latest feature film The Revenant. The Oscars betting odds on him winning an Oscar for directing is at 1/6. He is followed by George Miller, for his extraordinary work on Mad Max: Fury Road, with the odds of 11/2. The Big Short’s director Adam McKay, closes the leading trio with the odds of 10/1.

Oscars Betting Odds: Best Original Screenplay

Some interesting nominations in the category as always. The top contender is Spotlight, with the Oscars betting odds of 1/10 for the film winning the category. The second best bet, according to online sportsbooks, is apparently the script of the animated movie Inside Out, with the odds of 11/2, and the third is Bridge of Spies with the unlikely odds of 20/1.

Oscars Betting Odds: Best Adapted Screenplay

Some good books were made into films recently, and this category honors the scriptwriters who did the best job adapting the source material into a screenplay. The lead in this category is again The Big Short (something tells me that it’s a movie worth watching!) with the odds of 1/8, followed by Room, with the odds of 11/2. The third most popular adapted screenplay with online sportsbooks is Brooklyn, with the odds of 16/1.

Oscars Betting Odds: Best Foreign Film

This is an easy one. By all accounts, it seems that there is only one top contender, the Hungarian film Son of Saul. Son of Saul is given the odds of 1/12 by Bet365. The other films in this category include Mustang (odds: 6/1), Embrace of the Serpent with the odds of 25/1, and, finally, A War and Theeb, with the odds of 40/1 each.
