Oscar Winners 2016 As The Betting Odds Predicted

As last week was (almost) all about betting on Oscar winners, this week will be all about celebrating Oscar winners. The 88th Academy Awards had many fascinating triumphs. As we listed and forecasted the potential successes in our Oscar betting odds article, most of the predictions came true. So Bet365 was right many times. (Burst of applause.)

Oscar Winners: Best Picture

As it was quite obvious from last week’s betting odds, the best picture award was won by Spotlight. On the other hand, sportsbooks’ favorite The Revenant couldn’t get the award surprisingly. But don’t worry! The Revenant fans have other reasons to cheer.

Oscar Winners: Best Actor

Yes, this is like a dream came true for Leonardo DiCaprio. After five years’ effort, he finally got the award for his great performance in The Revenant. (I told you, this is one reason, and the other will come later.) The 41-year-old actor really deserved the Best Actor Trophy and the whole audience went crazy when his success was announced.

Oscar Winners: Best Actress

There is no big surprise in the field of this category either. The betting odds were quite sure about Brie Larson’s accomplishment would be awarded. The director of the film said there is something deep and naturalistic in her acting.

Oscar Winners: The Best Supporting Actress

If I had bet on Oscars this year, I would have been more than happy now, since the best supporting actor award was delivered to Alicia Vikander, from the Danish Girl. We kind of expected it due to her high odds and stunning performance, so cheers to her too.

Oscar Winners: The Best Supporting Actor

Although the odds put Silvester Stallone into a good position in terms of winning the award of the best supporting actor, I don’t know how we could forget about Mark Rylance. If you want a surprise, here it is, Mark Rylance and his role in the Bridge of Spies definitely hit the jackpot.

Oscar Winners: The Best Director

This year’s ace in that category is the Mexican film director, Alejandro G. Iñárritu with The Revenant. As Leo’s Oscar is also related to that film, this would be a double prize for both, the director and the main character.

Oscar Winners: The Best Foreign Language Film

Hungarians are also thrilled since this is the second time the tiny country achieved such high results in film industry. The brilliant film, The Son of Saul won the trophy in the best foreign language film category. The film directed by László Nemes is a Holocaust drama. As the director highlighted in his speech, even in the darkest hours there is a voice tells us inside to remain human. So one Oscar Award for Hungary and one more must see movie for you.

Make sure you have watched all of these film pieces and have a pint of beer for the icons of film industry. And by the next ceremony, here is our betting guide where you can learn how to bet on whatever you want, yes even for Oscars.
