Pellegrini out, Guardiola in as New Manchester City Boss

The Sky Blues released a statement on their official website announcing Guardiola will be in charge as Manchester City boss until 2019, starting from next season. “Manchester City can confirm that in recent weeks it has commenced and finalized contractual negotiations with pep Guardiola to become MCFC Head Coach for the 2016/17 EPL season onwards. The contract is for three years.”

It seems that the newly announced Manchester City boss was in talks with the club as early as 2012, however at that time he decided to take a year-long before taking the helm of Bayern Munich in the summer of 2013. “These negotiations were re-commencement of discussions that were curtailed in 2012.”

In efforts to allow all football aspects running their natural course, the club wanted to shed light on the new appointment so as to avoid worries regarding speculation. “Out of respect for Manuel Pellegrini and the players, the Club wishes to make its decision public to remove the unnecessary burden of speculation. Manuel, who is fully supportive of the decision to make this communication, is entirely focused on achieving his targets for the season ahead and retains the respect and commitment of all involved with the leadership of the Club.”

Despite Man City currently holding second place on the Premier League table, the club’s hierarchy seem to have no reservations about replacing Pellegrini with Guardiola as the new Manchester City boss.

It has been well-documented the Citizens are run by former Barcelona directors Ferran Soriano and Txiki Begiristain – men that are now chief executive and director of football respectively. And Guardiola was known to enjoy a great relationship with the duo until the board changed in 2010, midway through the Catalan’s spell as Barcelona manager. So it’s no wonder they were chasing him for his signature.

We’re pretty sure that Man City’s stock as a club destination will increase for a number of players, considering his immense appeal as a manager. More importantly, we should be seeing an increase when it comes to bets on football in England. Please read our guide if you’d like to know more about how to bet on football.

Oh and imagine if Mourinho took over the reigns of Manchester United next season – remembering the great rivalry the two men shared in Spain, we’d witness a real box-office English El Clasico!
