“I would like to share this title with Jupp Heynckes. We have done something quite remarkable – four titles in a row,” Pep Guardiola said of his third and the club’s fourth consecutive league title. “Many thanks to everybody, to all the people in Germany. I have been delighted with the experience I have had here. I want to pay a huge compliment to everybody” who works here, to the fans and the exceptional players. Every single one of them have helped us.”

The current boss of the Bundesliga champions also heaped praise on their main rivals Borussia Dortmund, who kept the Bavarian giants on alert throughout the entire season, only to finish second behind them. “And big compliments too to Borussia Dortmund, who have been huge rivals for us,” Guardiola stressed. “It was the hardest title yet. Borussia Dortmund have been amazing.”

Thomas Muller has enjoyed his best season to date in terms of numbers, scoring a whopping 32 goals in 48 appearances across all competitions. His 20 goals domestically have definitely helped Bayern become the Bundesliga champions. “We’ve had an incredible season as a team. We’ve held off Dortmund, and the stats show they’re the best runner-up in Bundesliga history,” commented Muller. “As we’ve seen again today, our opponents give everything and push us all the way, but at the end of the day we’re the strongest. That’s why we’re delighted.”

The 26-year-old also added that their fourth straight title triumph is unprecedented in German football, which makes this year’s victory all the more exciting for Bavarian side. “Four titles in a row has never happened before in the Bundesliga, and the league’s had its share of great teams. It’s exceptional, and we don’t need to be shy about saying it. It’s a huge weight off our shoulders and it brings a certain satisfaction.”

Although Muller has been prolific in front of goal all season long, it’s Dortmund’s former striker who has bagged the most goals for the Bundesliga champions, finding the back of the net an impressive 41 times overall. His current goal tally in the league stands at 29 goals, which makes him only the second foreign player to achieve such a feat, after Schalke’s Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, who bagged the same amount of goals in the 2011-12 season. With one more game remaining, he could become the first player in 39 years to reach the 30-goal mark in one season, according to ESPN.

The Polish striker expressed his delight at clinching the title after Bayern beat Ingolstad, with two goals coming from him. “We’re champions for the fourth time in a row! It’s my fourth title personally as well. Amazing! I’m pleased about scoring twice. It’s not far back to Munich and we’ll have a party there,” Lewandowski said, before adding that the Bundesliga champions look forward to the DFB Pokal final, where they will face his former side Dortmund on May 21. “We’ll celebrate with our fans in Munich next week, and after that it’s the cup final. If we win the cup it’ll be a truly good season.”

Online sportsbook Bet365 favours the current Bundesliga champions for victory 1.90 (10/11) in the cup final, while a draw between the two stands at 3.60 (13/5) – an event that’s quite likely. A win for Dortmund stands at 3.75 (11/4), but we believe that a draw with goals may be on the cards during the 90 minutes of the game.

There is still one game to go in the top flight of German football, but the first three places on the table are secure for the respective clubs: Bayern, Dortmund, Bayer Leverkusen. The Bavarians will next face Hannover at home, where they are the absolute favorites 1.10 (1/10), while the visiting side is facing a daunting challenge 23.00 (22/1). A draw is also not likely, with chance of that being 9.00 (8/1).

Bayer Leverkusen 1.45 (9/20) will face Ingolstadt 6.00 (5/1) at home, while Dortmund 1.25 (1/4) are preparing to host Cologne 10.00 (9/1) in the final round of the season. Place bets on the final games with online sportsbook Bet365.

Pep Guardiola is gearing up to take over Manchester City on July 1, but there are sure to be regrets for the Catalan, despite sealing three domestic titles and some other minor trophies during his three-year stay at Sabener Strasse.

It could be viewed as a possibility that Bayern’s hierarchy expected Guardiola to replicate the Champions League success he enjoyed while at Barcelona. However, he failed to deliver on the most coveted prize in club football, ironically losing all three semi-final encounters to Spanish sides: Real Madrid (2014), Barcelona (2015) and Atletico Madrid (2016).
