UK Betting Shops Are Blamed for Obesity

UK’s health regulators made us ask this question; what does really make you fat? Fast food or UK betting shops?

According to online betting news, Rachel Flowers, a health official from London made the weirdest statement one has ever heard; she connected UK betting shops with obesity by saying that not fast food, but betting shops are the biggest reason of obesity. She accuses bookmakers for bleeding money out of people’s pockets and making them unable to provide healthy food for their families.

The director of public health in Croydon declared that she is concerned about the effects of UK betting shops on people’s eating habits. Later she added that  there is no significant connection between eating takeaway food and being obese although most people hold the view that chicken shops have the major responsibility in this issue.

According to the health professional, betting is the main cause of people being overweight, as shops are draining people’s money, so they won’t be able to spend enough on normal food. People rather eat at fast food shops on the street and get overweight.

To make the controversy more obvious, the official expressed her opinion about cooking; as it is a ‘middle class occupation’, and most people just don’t cook any more.

To avoid this argument about becoming fat and betting, we have a good idea. If you bet online you will be out of this whole debate, and we also have an online betting guide to help you, so don’t worry about going to betting shops.

UK Betting Shops and the Relieving Answer

The former environmental health officer also reacted to these accusations, and he admitted there is not much authorities can do about betting shops and takeaways on streets. According to his words, fast food outlets are cheap and the food tastes good, therefore people visit them.

Actually, the new official has a different opinion about this reply, and she is determined to introduce healthier types of food.

The Association of British Bookmakers tried to cool this situation down, as they said their shops set limits on how much people can spend in the name of the safe and responsible gambling.

Even if you are not a regular bettor, these words can make you think that there is something wrong with this statement. First of all, which betting shop does ask you to go there personally ? None of them. Those who want to bet, will go and bet. Nobody will ask them and they use their money intentionally, so the only responsibility is theirs.

Chicken shops causing obesity has much bigger relevance here than betting shops. One thing is for sure; if you go to a betting shop you neither will be more obese nor thinner at the end.
