The new format of the European Championship allowed even four third-placed teams to qualify to the next round of the competition, which will see a few underdogs face big sides. The ones that didn’t make it to Euro 2016 Round of 16 are the following nations: Albania, Austria, Czech Republic, Romania, Russia, Sweden, Turkey and Ukraine. Below you’ll find all the details about the upcoming matches of Euro 2016 Round of 16, taking place between June 25 and June 27.

Switzerland vs Poland will be the first game of Euro 2016 Round of 16 (June 25), but online sportsbooks don’t have an absolute favourite when it comes to this match. Bet365 Sports gives Poland better chances 2.60 (8/5), while Switzerland themselves are not too far behind with odds of 3.25 (9/4). Poland have clinched two victories in their group, however they didn’t really excel with the talents they’ve got within their team, while the Swiss equally struggled that saw them win only once and record two draws. That’s why we suggest you place a wager on a tie 3.00 (2/1) for this game.

Group B winners Wales will face Northern Ireland, who were among the last ones to qualify for Euro 2016 Round of 16 through due to their third-placed standing in Group C. Chris Coleman’s men are favourites 2.00 (1/1) for this match due to their impressive form in the competition so far. Northern Ireland will have a hard time neutralizing the likes of Aaron Ramsey and Gareth Bale – one of the two top goalscorers of Euro 2016 with 3 goals so far. Northern Ireland are outsider for this match 5.00 (4/1), with a draw being the most that they can hope for.3.10 (21/10).

The third and final game scheduled for this Saturday (June 25) will see Group D leaders Croatia face the third-placed team of Group F – Portugal. Fernando Santos’ men have greatly disappointed with their performances in the tournament so far, by not being able to record a single victory in a group that contained inexperienced sides like Hungary and Iceland. Croatia on the other hand have emerged as serious contenders for the Henri Delaunay trophy, after overcoming defending champions Spain 2-1 on Tuesday. Bet365 favours them 2.60 (8/5) for the win against Portugal 3.25 (9/4), with a draw standing at 3.00 (2/1). With the way Croatia is playing right now, they should be able to seal a relatively easy win against the abysmal Portugal.

Hosts France are enjoying great form in front of home support

France have topped group Group A with 2 comfortable wins and a draw, and since they’re the hosts, online sportsbooks view them as absolute favourites 1.45 (9/20) against Republic of Ireland on June 26, who are complete outsiders 10.00 (9/1). Ireland have qualified for the Euro 2016 Round of 16 after finishing as the second best third-placed team in the competition. It’s safe to say that they don’t have the capacity to cause an upset against France, or even record a tie 4.20 (9/1). Didier Deschamps seems to have organized his team well, which can see them go all the way to the final and even lift their third European title.

World champions and Group C winners Germany will face Group B’s third-placed side Slovakia – they were the best third-placed nation from the six groups. Joachim Low is yet to find a defining strategy that could see them clinch their second successive tournament, but with a squad that features the world’s best players makes them instant favourites 1.40 (2/5) against the Slovaks 11.00 (10/1), per online sportsbook odds. We strongly doubt that Slovakia can pull off a draw 4.50 (7/2) against them, despite boating a powerful attacker in Hamsik.

Along with Iceland, Hungary are one of the tournament’s biggest surprises. They’ve entered the Euros as complete outsiders, but have ended up winning Group F that featured Iceland, Austria and even Portugal. However, their next game will see them take on Belgium on June 26 in what is sure to be their biggest test yet. Online sportsbook Bet365 gives them outsider odds 7.00 (6/1), however they’ve shown great determination in their group, and if they manage to build on this momentum they can cause an upset. Belgium have favourite odds 1.66 (4/6), while a draw stands at 3.60 (13/5). Judging on Hungary’s performances in the group phase, we believe this match could easily end with a tie or even a victory. Perhaps placing a wager on Double Chance bet (Hungary or Draw) 2.25 (5/4) seems like the safest bet to make.

Spain will face Italy in the Euro 2016 Round of 16 – a repeat of the Euro 2012 Final

After Spain suffered a 2-1 loss to Croatia, they ended up in second spot of Group D which placed them with Italy for Euro 2016 Round of 16 scheduled for June 27. This will see a repeat of the Euro 2012 final in which Spain defended their European title with a comfortable 4-0 win. Italy showed great character during the group phase by finishing first in Group E, despite being labelled as a losing side by many commentators. Antonio Conte’s men are underdogs 4.33 (10/3) going up against the defending champions 2.15 (23/20), with a draw standing at 3.00 (2/1), per online sportsbook odds. With the way both of the sides have played, a tie may very well be on the cards for this match.

The final game of Euro 2016 Round of 16 has paired the runner-ups of both Group B and Group F: England and Iceland respectively. Roy Hodgson’s men were impressive when they faced Wales (who finished Group B winners), however they struggled against the lower sides, Russia and Slovakia. Iceland on the other hand recorded a draw when they played both Hungary and Portugal, but in their final group game they defeated Austria 2-1 in the dying moments to qualify for the Euro 2016 Round of 16.

This may seem like an easy bet to make, but the Three Lions have blundered in their group, so a draw 3.90 (29/10) may be the safest bet for this match with Bet365. Iceland have been dealt outsider chances 8.50 (15/2), while a victory for England 1.53 (8/15) seems almost automatic, but, once again, be careful with this game.

Recently, former Croatia manager and current West Ham boss Slaven Bilic expressed his views on England’s chances of Euro success. “They have a good team, I said that even two years ago, when you (England) went out of the group in Brazil. You played with a lot of energy up front,” Bilic said during his pundit work with ITV.

He emphasized England need to work on their defense if they are to reach far in the competition. “On that time the problem was with defence, and unfortunately still that defence is not that convincing….what I would like to see from England, they got to be unleashed when they go, when they have the ball,” advised the 47-year-old.

So, you’ve heard him Roy! Unleash the Three Lions!!!
