“That can happen that Fabregas is not in the starting XI, but it can happen for all the players. It’s important to see always the right attitude,” commented the former Italy boss. “Because we must fight this season and it’s important to stay together in every situation. But when the shape can improve and can change all the situations. Now I took this decision but the next game I can change or not.”

The Spanish international has made a total of 94 appearances for Chelsea during his first two years at the club, during which time he has found the back of the net on 11 occasions and helped them win the Premier League and Football League Cup in 2014/15.

ESPN reports that Fabregas may be looking to ply his trade at another club, with PSG, Juventus and former club Barcelona all touted as potential destinations. There have even been reports linking the 29-year-old to a shock move to the Barnabeu, which would be a massive coup for Real Madrid – the arch-rivals of his former club Barcelona.

Chelsea started their 2016/17 campaign with a victory against West Ham at Stamford Bridge last night, although they left it late to score the winning goal. Eden Hazard opened the scoring in the 47th minute after converting a penalty, but 30 minutes later the Hammers equalized thanks to a strike by James Collins. Diego Costa found the back of the net in the 89th minute, which gave Chelsea their first three points of the new season.

Antonio Conte’s men will next face Watford away from home this Saturday (August 20) in a  match that should be see them clinch another three points. Despite achieving unprecedented success last season, defending champions Leicester City are outsiders for the title this campaign 51.00 (50/1), although that’s way above the 5,000/1 odds they were dealt at the start of the 2015/16 season.
