With the arrival of the Baku City Circuit, the number of street circuits has increased to three, others being Circuit de Monaco and Singapore Marina Bay Street Circuit. These circuits are more challenging since drivers have to drive on the roads used by civilians throughout the year. Therefore, the tyre supplier of Formula One Pirelli has introduced the ultrasoft tyre which increases friction and handling. These tyres will be available only on the street circuits.
FIA decided to increase the number of tokens available for power unit development. There will be 32 tokens granted to the teams instead of 15. The aim is giving more chance to smaller teams to develop their engines to compete with their rivals.
